This is a diverse and expansive Diocese covering about 1.5million sq. kms.
If you refer to the Map of the Diocese you will see just how expansive it is.
Our Diocese embraces many Indigenous Communities, most of whom speak their own language. Our First Australians figure largely in our Diocese and we are greatly enriched by their culture and their deep sense of God’s presence.
There are more than 80 other cultures in this wonderful Diocese, all contributing to a fascinating tapestry of faith and tradition.
Our Diocese has been and to a large extent still is, missionary.
We have priests from all over the world providing wonderful service along with a great team of various communities of Religious men and women.
Our Catholic Education System and CatholicCare Agency are achieving great things for the people.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society is strong in providing shelter, a food van and an exciting project in low cost housing.
We have an outstanding team of leaders, families, young people and organisations.
We are not an affluent Diocese but we are deeply grateful to Catholic Mission and other benefactors who enable us to provide the much needed services in our Diocese.
I hope you enjoy your “virtual” visit to our Diocese and I ask that you pray for us as we labour in this wonderful part of God’s vineyard.
