Caritas
Caritas is a Latin word which means love, charity and compassion.
The International symbol of Caritas is a flaming cross, symbolising Christ’s burning love for his people. For its logo, Caritas Australia has
combined the International Caritas cross with the Southern Cross - symbolising its role in the International Caritas family and its distinct Australian identity.

Neo-Catechumenal Communities
Fr Tom English St Francis Xavier Catholic Presbytery, PMB 28, Nauiyu, NT, 0822. Tel: 08 8978 2449 Fax: 08 8978 2674 Email: drchurch@darwin.catholic.org.au
In the Diocese there are three Neocatechumenal Communities. The Neo-Catechumenal Way started in Darwin several years ago at the invitation of the
late Bishop the Most Rev. J. P. O'Loughlin. It is continuing with the approval of the Bishop, the Most Rev. E. Collins. The Holy Father describes it as an "Itinerary of Catholic formation valid for our
society and our times." In front of the secularization of today's world, the preaching of the Good News of Jesus, the Kerygma, is the starting point for the New Evangelization of the third millennium. This
Message of Salvation calls the people to form communities that may walk along this Way. The Neo-Catechumenal Way does not intend to form a movement in itself, but rather to help parishes to open a way of
initiation to Baptism, enabling one discover the significance of being Christian. It is an instrument at the service of the bishop in the parish, to recover the Faith of a great number of people who have abandoned
it. This Neo-Catechumenal Way is not a program or a theory, but a reality that little by little is taking flesh in the very concrete and unique meltdown of peoples in the Top End and it is giving already the
first fruits of mercy, love and forgiveness touching the lives of many families. The Neo-Catechumenal Way does not impose itself but is an offer to anyone who feels the call of God to deepen his/her relationship
with Him. Anyone is welcome. Contacts:
